I am almost always looking for young talents to join my group on a PhD program.
The three projects for which I currently (Fall 2023) have room for one student each are
- the development of a high-power radiation-balanced fiber laser and amplifier,
- detection of trace gases (hydrogen and volatile organic compounds) using our MEMS diaphragm sensors in conjunction with selective photo-acoustic excitation of the gas,
- rotation sensing using a resonant SiN ring resonator, with a focus on improving the locking stability, reducing the noise, and lowering the drift.
All projects involve both theoretical and experimental investigations. I often have other photonics projects as well, so feel free to contact me if even if you do not see here something you like.
Remember that if you have already joined a group and wish to rotate into another group, you do not have to wait until the end of the quarter to switch group. You are allowed to rotate into another group any time during a quarter (make sure your current research advisor is OK with it of course).
